OpenOffice Stealing Microsoft’s Stupid Ideas

For reasons unbeknownst, OpenOffice, the open source answer to MS Word, suddenly decided that its wonderful product must copy all of Microsoft’s stupid ideas. I don’t know about you, but I always thought that this guy (”Office Assistant”, but let’s call him “Cheshire Clip”) was one of the most annoying features in Word:

Annoying Word paper clip

So there I am, using OpenOffice unmolested when lo and behold, Cheshire Clip’s cousin Lifeguard Lightbulb pops up, for no apparent reason.

OpenOffice Stealing Microsoft’s Dumb Ideas

OpenOffice developers: please confiscate the flotation device and throw Lifeguard Lightbulb back in the water. I don’t know what possessed you to copy Microsoft on this one. It’s not like it’s a loveable cartoon character that whimsically disturbs you with its crazy antics. It’s a friggin’ paper clip whose eyes defy gravity.

And just because I think Cheshire Clip is funny:Office Assistant Suicide Note
